CHAPTER 5: THE CHEMICAL BODY

BE AWARE OF YOUR PH BALANCE, STRIVE FOR AN ALKALINE DIET

Once the body has been cleansed through fasting, and a person has started eating fresh, locally grown foods in correct combinations, it is a good idea to become aware of a simple principle in body chemistry.

In chemistry there is a system of measurement called the pH scale. It ranges from 0 (acid) to 14 (basic or alkaline). The optimum pH of the blood is between 7.37 and 7.41. If a person's blood pH goes out of this very narrow range they can swiftly become ill and go into a coma. The kidneys, considered one of the most important organs in Chinese medicine, regulate and monitor the pH, keeping it in an optimum range at all times. It is a phenomenal process that carries on during every second of our lives, a balancing of yin and yang to ensure the "battery" has the correct charge.

The body operates more efficiently and seems to stay younger when the diet is more alkaline. This occurs when the diet is comprised primarily of fruits, nuts, whole grains, and vegetables. When the diet is more acidic, the aging and degenerative process is accelerated. An acidic environment in the body is promoted by the ingestion of animal products like meat, milk, eggs and cheese as well as caffeine, white sugars, white flour products, alcohol, pop, processed foods, canned foods and nicotine. Keeping the acid-base balance in the correct range is the theory behind many food combining diet regimes.

More and more people are starting to learn the amazing benefits of eating a raw food or live food diet. Eating food is supposed to be for adding energy to our bodies when we are lacking in energy or life force. It is inefficient if we need to use more energy to digest and process our food than what we receive from the food.  I am not referring to caloric energy, but vibrational life force. Every atom of our bodies is filled with electricity or life force to some degree. These atoms are composed of electrons and protons, which are negatively and positively charged particles. The greater the force, charge, or voltage of each item, the more power it can generate to feed the life of each cell. The cell itself can be so charged with life force that it can become radiant light. This can be demonstrated by Kirlian photography which can take images of the surrounding life energy emitted from living things. It is this light that repels dis-ease. Light is life. It is energy in it's purest form. The more light, the more one is able to survive in a state in of optimum health.

Enzymes are small proteins found in the body, of which we have a limited reserve in our lifetime. They are the catalysts or transformative elements that assist in assimilation of our food and regeneration of our body. They are found in every cell of your body. When you eat raw food or food found in it's natural state (i.e.: raw), nature has intelligently placed the correct combination of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes for you to utilize its life force energy. Therefore you gain energy and digest efficiently when you eat a raw fruit or vegetable. You don't draw from your own bank reserve of enzymes, using them for other needs such as repairing tissue damaged by normal environmental and daily life stresses or injuries.

When we cook our foods above 120 degrees, we kill of the enzymes found in the food and disrupt or deplete the vibrational life force . It essentially becomes dead food. When we ingest it, there are no enzymes to facilitate the process, so the body must use its own enzymes. Over years of eating essentially cooked dead material and calling it "food", we are really committing a slow suicide, by speeding up our rate of aging, degeneration and death.

What is more is that the food becomes more acidic and also promotes an acidic environment in the body. As mentioned above, it is desirable to maintain and alkaline environment for optimum well being. Below is a list of acidifying and alkalizing foods. Try to incorporate more alkalizing foods in your diet, choose raw if you have the choice, and research more into how you can learn to make a variety of delicious raw meals for you and your family.

I personally used food combining for many years and still do when I am at a restaurant or party and can't eat raw. When I became a vegetarian in my college years, I lost some fat that had been on my body from childhood years of being a typical meat, bread and dessert eater. Being a vegetarian makes food combining easy as it is usually meat and dairy that really throw things off in our diet.

However, in the year 2002 I was introduced to raw foods and found that it was the missing link in nutrition for me, especially with regard to the optimum way to balance out the chemical side of the triad of health.

My family and I went completely raw in 2003. I ate as much as I desired, but lost 25 pounds in 5 months! My energy and vitality were the best they felt since I was a child, and old pains and stiffness disappeared. I have witnessed the effectiveness of raw food principles. I know they work as they are following a natural law as explained above. There are retreats and teaching centers around the world that help people with chronic diseases return back to alkalinity and reverse the disease. They are effective on both young and old alike and the speed at which the body can reverse the condition is amazing.

Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and look into eating more raw. You are worth it!
